Feeding my senses.

The touch of the wind against my skin is chilly at first and I know I have to pedal hard (initially) to get my body temperature beyond my own momentum generated wind chill factor. I warm up quickly and it allows me to delight in the view. My eyes always light up as I whiz by the poppies. My friend Lex said recently that when she first moved to Maui she didn’t grock the flowers as she came from the East Coast where the flora are soft and have petals. Here the tropicals are magnificent stiff, waxy creations and while she did learn to love them, I think about her comment every time I pass by this lovely garden. The little kid in me really wants the Jacaranda's to have the smell of the palmer violet sweets I ate when I was eight. Well, they don't and that’s probably a good thing so nothing distracts from their sheer purple perfection. Which reminds me of a funny 'tweet' I read recently. Someone asked Lord Fry how he pronounced the word 'ate'. He replied, 'I'm an "ett" man, but there's no right or wrong about it. In the North they're likely to say "eight" I think." Damn him, how does he know these things?! Hmmmmm now what kind of cycle 'safety first' is this? Still, now I think about it not all traffic cones are meant to give advance warning of hazards or temporarily redirect traffic in a safe manner.........or are they? (Cue Scooby Doo flashback music)!

I really enjoyed going with you on the bike ride. I did a lot of bicycling in my younger days. The video was very professionally done. Thank you very much.

Hey Alex: My bro works for the Swiss engineering firm Sulzer, but he hasn't learned to speak Swiss (yet). Still, it's only been over 30 years....I'll give him a few more.

TG: I feel such joy when I'm on my bike and there's no doubt the views have a lot to do with it.

Hey Sharon
Just saw your blog (courtesy of Alex)- thought I'd check it out being a fellow Brit. Saw your photos of Danny- bloody hell, didn't know he was still around- used to live with him maybe 5 years ago in Paia (behind Picnics)-give him a big hug from me..we had good drunken times at Casanovas (I'm sure he can't remember as he was always too hammered!) ...ahh memories...
Cheers, Siobhan

I'm not sure your Ma wants to see you on a cycle tour riding on the wrong side of the road. I swerve for you each time a car comes by!
I do have a vivid imagination as you well know!!!!
For some reason I'm surprised you have poppies on Maui - I assumed they were a European flower - Flanders fields and all that.

I wondered who you were talking about when you mentioned Lord Fry (I thought you were talking about the guy who made the Fry's cream bars). How come you've elevated Steve to the peerage - he's not even a Knight of the Realm yet. Mind you, I don't think it will be long before he's Sir Stephen of Norfolk or some such place in Suffolk.

P.S. talking of things French, my verification word is "unpilett".
That could either be a stupid person or a male pillow!!!!

What's a bug hug?

Mater: I knew the on-coming traffic would give you a thrill!

As for Sir, Lord or better yet His Majesty, just 'aving a laff :-)

'Bug hug' is a miss spelled 'big hug'.
