Oahu (again)!

I popped over to Oahu (again) this last weekend and am so glad I did, because I ran into the penguin pidgin!

Ala Moana beach park was full of bright umbrella colors on a hot and muggy day.

One way to cool off.

Here's another.....fly to Molokai, camp over night, jump on a SUP or paddleboard at 6:00am and cross 32 miles of choppy, currenty, swelly, windy open ocean to Oahu! That's what 120 teams and individuals did on Sunday morning for the Rainbow Sandals Molokai to Oahu paddleboard race.

Including our very own Michelle Crompton who along with her team mate Yves, completed this insane challenge in 6hrs 23 minutes. It was the first crossing for both of them and they came in well ahead of over half the pack and (I believe) 2nd in their mixed team division. Un-bloody believable. The fastest time was 4hrs 45 minutes and the slowest 9hrs and 8 minutes. Here's Meesh who swam across the finish line (as one does), as Yves brought their 16ft paddleboard home.......trust me all competitors did not look this good!

Phew-it's enough to induce a nap in the best of us.

The penguin pidgeon...thanks for the great laugh on that one! And that Meesh, WOOOHOOOO, what an athlete. Incredible!

P.S.: save some room in your busy calendar, I'll be there from 8/12 to 9/6!

Word verification: predishr--what you do before your washings or the small talk before you get to the juicy gossip?

Boy oh Boy, is that really my daughter? Sorry to sound like a stuck record but we are so proud of her. As you say, un-bloody-believable! Many thanks for the great photo, and result, as we haven't managed to speak to Meesh yet and didn't know if she had even made it to Oahu. xx

Ely: Wow nice long trip this month, you are the vacation king!

Mchumbie: This stunt was above and beyond! As Ulli was telling us he was going to train for next years race, Michelle came out of the water and said she's never going to do it again!! I have a feeling it's not dissimilar to the pain of childbirth and as the year goes on she'll forget the misery and want to do it all over again! Place your bets Ladies and Gentlemen....

Who's the vacation king?!?!? I claim that crown...

You keep doing it- finding funny pictures to shoot. Love the pidgin
and the umbrella shots.
I can only guess what Mchumbie must feel like to see Meech looking so good after doing that stupid SUP race. I just hope now M has done it, she's got it out of her system and sod next year.

Just hope GP doesn't have malodorous feet - there's a paucity of people around him so I'm a little suspicious!

Ely, being English I read your Maui dates as being 8 December to 9 June, thinking that was some vacation, until the "penny dropped"!

GP: Ok, I am only the Earl of vacations.

See you guys soon....

Thanks for the coverage Shaz, I didn't take any pics during the race for fear of puking looking through a lens. The boat captain did though, so hope to have some record of the slog. It's been a week, and I am already finding myself making comments like "well, next year I'll know....." :) Thanks for the comments and support everyone, till next year then!!! Meesh xx
