Bike bliss.

I awoke early to ride my bike up the best part of Waipoli Road. It's a brutal start with no flat part to warm you up.....just immediate incline.

However, I was spurred on by my new 'go faster' shoes on their inaugural outing. These guys did it in 6.5 minutes.....it took me about 40!

There's a peace in the world before it wakes up and if you couple that with the special feeling of just you the cows, birds, flowers, trees and clouds........well it's a magical recipe for a great ride.

The grasses and petals were still heavy with dew and I rode in and out of cloud banks, all the while with a steady cadence propelling me upward.

A cattle grid might stop cows, but it did little to stop this glorious beauty from taking root.

And talking of roots....look at this comedic carrot that showed up in a bunch from the farmers market. Bless.....I didn't have the heart to eat him, yet!

That gives a lovely reminder of when you took me up to the Lavender farm for lunch and making our own ever-lasting wreaths. Do they still live?
I think the lovely orange plant is a crocosmia but perhaps Mchumbie or TG knows better than I?

Very smart go-faster shoes :-)

Some serious hills up your way Sharon! How far do you ride when you go out?

Sorry, M. tropical flowers are not my area of expertise...
Another lovely bike ride - wonder if I could get someone to drive me up so that I could bike down??

Mater: Good memory, the ride starts just above the Lavender Farm. As for the wreaths half made it - half didn't!

Lano: This ride is short, only 3/4 miles up but it gets the heart rate going and there's no traffic-so ya can't beat that!

Mchumbie: It's a great down hill with lots of hair pin bends, but you might have to drop Gordon at Borders first because there's not a book shop for miles!

Mchumbie: as far as I'm aware those flowers grow over here - there's a clump of them in the gardens in front of my apartment.

I'm most impressed at your down-hill cycling aspirations - good on you. Perhaps you'd need my verification word of "restio" when you got to the bottom?:-)

Actually Anne all you have to do is get on a bike and sit tight and just coast down. We did that from Olinda one time and it was great until Makawao (sp?) when the traffic spoilt the fun so we got back into Michelle's following truck for the rest of the journey.
Sharon - no probs with Gordon I would just turf him out at Makawao library and he would be as happy as the proverbial pig.
